“This is a great place for a burger and beer…the burgers are very reasonable and they have a huge selection of tap beer from all over the world. The buildings (there are at least two locations in Fargo area) are set up to look like a hole-in-the-wall type of cafe, narrow and long. The customer is urged to try the potato chips, because they are cut from raw potatoes and fried up at the time of the order. There is a cajun-seasoned chip that just can’t be described!” ~ avsafe

And, oh yeah, the best chips I have ever had – made fresh (the little machine takes a potato and runs off strips of chips). By far the best burger-beer place in the area! Also great atmosphere (although small, you can do take-out and have a beer while you wait – and, besides, the challenge of finding a seat is part of the charm) and great staff. “Great burgers; say hello to great beers! If you like a good burger; or you like a good beer; or you like a good burger with a good beer – then definitely stop at JL Beers. Nice selection of craft beers. Burgers were outstanding and unbelievably fast. I’m really intrigued with their burger making equipment. They basically have a couple flat-top griddles. They scoop balls of hamburger onto the griddle, season with salt and pepper, then these two big arms come down, smash the burgers and cook them on both sides simultaneously (that’s why it’s so fast). Fast and fool-proof, but in an extremely juicy and delicious way, not in a nasty fast-food way. I think there were a few tables out on the sidewalk. Beware if Grandma needs her glass of wine – cause they don’t got none. Staff was super friendly. Highly recommended! Wish I had one in my neighborhood! ~ Bruegger
“JL Beers, best bang for your buck in Fargo/West Fargo. August of 2010 my family ate at the JL Beers located at 518 1st Ave North in Fargo, North Dakota. It was the best burger we’d had in a long time. The menu has 9 different burgers, 4 selections of chips/fries, with or w/o dip,and beer. This August we couldn’t wait to return and found they’d opened another location at 810 13th Ave in West Fargo. Needless to say we tried that one on this visit. The ads say they have seating for 1000, 49 @ a time! We ate out on the patio on both our visits. Quality food and beer at reasonable prices. Don’t miss out on their chips with sea salt. I can’t say enough about them. Word is out they are opening another restaurant in Moorhead in the near future. Guess we’ll be going there in August 2012!” ~ 1cheryl
“I have been to both the downtown Fargo JL Beers and the West Fargo JL Beers numerous times. Both have been excellent each and every time. Their food selection is limited to burgers (and sides), but they do have a wide variety of burgers to choose from. I definately recommend the 13th Ave Burger or the Humpty Dumpty. Their new beer cheese dip is great with the fresh cut chips. They also have a wide variety of beers to choose from. I definitely recommend them.” ~ tdawg40sw
